Changes to library provision in Manchester

Received at Cranswick Square:

From September 5, we’re changing opening hours in most Manchester libraries.
On September 30, Rack House Library and Clayton Library will close. We are working with local people to investigate community-run book exchange services as a future alternative. We’ll keep you posted.
Barlow Moor Library will stay open until July 2012, but again we are hoping to help establish some community-led service in the area.
Mobile Library vehicles will no longer operate after 28 October 2011. We intend to replace some of the services offered by mobile libraries with a new Books to Go service. We’re working on that now: more information will follow.
We apologise for any inconvenience these changes will cause. We have had to make some very difficult decisions.
